May 28, 2014

A. Frank Johns, from Booth Harrington & Johns of Greensboro will present the plenary session Person-Centered Guardianship and Supported Decision-Making in Six Countries at the 3rd World Congress on Adult Guardianship. The World Congress will be held May 28 – 30 in the Washington, DC metro area. This unique event will bring together 120 speakers from 21 countries on six continents to discuss promising practices in the area of adult guardianship. This is the third World Congress on Guardianships; the first and second were held respectively in Japan and Australia. As the current chair of the National Guardianship Network, Johns was a primary organizer for the event.

"I'm pleased and honored to be speaking about this important topic to such an esteemed worldwide audience,” said Johns. Anyone who is involved with guardianship regularly faces challenges at some point. While many regional and national organizations offer ways for guardianship professionals to share challenges and solutions, rarely do they have the opportunity to interact with peers from other countries. The World Congress presents shared problems from new perspectives and offer ideas and solutions from multiple viewpoints, cultures and guardianship systems.”
